Perspective Biotech Team Discussions: What should the CEO do? (Team breakout discussions) Instructions: Biotech leaders may have one of the most difficult general management roles in industry. They often reach the executive suite through a particular functional expertise (research, finance, commercial). Soon, however, they face challenges that require an integrated understanding of multiple disciplines. Each team will discuss a situation where a CEO must lead in an area that is outside of his/her comfort zone. The participants will be asked to develop recommendations for the CEO of their case study. |

Market Access: It’s always too early, until it’s too late – thinking globally & staying ahead of the game Market access has been a critical, and increasingly complex, issue in the industry for almost 20 years now, yet many leave planning to the last minute. Reimbursement is the key to operating cash flow for a medicine, a more accurate valuation and better alignment in business development discussions, yet many companies leave planning until after regulatory and clinical programs are finalized. Better and earlier access planning creates a better understanding of evidence and data needs for both payers and capital needs, more accurate net pricing estimates, and ultimately, a more realistic valuation model with fewer downside surprises.

Communication: The critical role of building and maintaining your company’s reputation Reputation matters to those that matter the most to our industry — patients, care providers, investors, employees, and potential hires (especially our increasingly millennial workforce). Positive reputations can pave the way in times of crisis, in times of transition – and when it’s critical to have a seat at the policy-setting table. How can the biotech industry improve our reputation – and our communication to consumers – and receive reputational value for the positive difference we make in the lives of millions?
